Hi everyone, this is my first review. I'm glad it's Hoyo week. I've really enjoyed this cigar. Haven't had one for a while and I was planning on smoking one soon, so perfect.

Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure Especial Tubo.

I consider myself an amateur but i did my best to pick out the flavors i was getting

When i cracked the tube open, my gosh what an aroma. The only thing that smells better than a cuban cigar is a box of cuban cigars. This cigar smellt like pure chocolate. Not Dark chocolate. Belgian sweet milk chocolate. Amazing.

The cold draw revealed some saltiness, sweetness, and a bit of coco.

The first few puffs started with a beautiful salty cuban tobacco flavour. What a start. In came a bit of milk coffee, a bit of cream. Just under medium body at this stage. Mid first third, started to get some light cedar. Towards the end of the first third, the salt died off. At this point i can best describe it as a full cream milk coffee, with some light cedar, delicious.

Second third, the body moved up to a solid medium and remained there for the rest of the cigar. Loads of cream, some nice milk chocolate. Floral on the retrohale with some nice dark coffee. In came some sweet spices, and a bit of a toffee flavor. Didn't want this cigar to ever end.

Last third there was a pure butter flavor that came in, and it was the bomb. It only lasted 4 puffs though . It was butter with a bit of salt and a sour twang. It was like a nice hot fresh piece of sourdough toast, buttered and with a touch of vegemite . I think i nailed it. I kept waiting for it to come back after those 4 puffs, but it never did. None the less, an amazing cigar. Nubbed til my fingers burnt.

Great review. I've been working on a box of these and get a lot of the same things you describe. The one thing that sticks out with this cigar, for me, is how sweet it can be. Like the cigar version of a s'more or something.

Nicely done. Had one of my last from a box bought twenty years ago and then had a new one the following day. As much as we talk about aging, the younger cigar was much better.
