Hoyo de Monterrey is probably my favourite marque.  When I started smoking cigars, my family gave me a Particulares that year for Christmas.  When I first went into my local B&M to buy my first real cigars, I was gifted an Epicure No. 2 when I explained what had ultimately brought me in (which was undoubtedly one of the best cigars I have ever smoked).  And finally, the first box of cigars I ever bought was a box of Des Dieux.  I don't know exactly what it is about Hoyo de Monterrey, but they have been special to me since the start and remain so to this day.

The cigar for this review is the last from this box, and overall it was a pleasant example.  Normally I would try to break it up into thirds, but for this cigar there seems little point.  It started spicy with a creamy mouth feel before the cream took over completely with the spice returning again in the end.  The draw was perfect, but the burn did have a tendency to go crooked and did require a few touchups throughout.

The Epicure No. 2 remains my favourite robusto, and although this may not have been the best example it was still satisfying regardless.
