Looks like I'll take one for the team and bite the Fonseca bullet :D

This is the one marca I've constantly struggled with. Struggled is one way of putting it, another would be that in a decade of smoking I've never had a single good one, every single example I've tried has been unsmokeable due to being plugged. The aroma of smoke made by then has always been delicious; incredibly sweet like candy floss. I've just never been able to draw smoke from the cigars!

Anyway, this little single has been sat in my single humi for a few years now and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to give them another chance. Believe me without this comp it would be sat there until the cows came home by themselves.

The draw seems a little tight but certainly within the bounds of acceptability, lights are green! Straight away the richness of this stick strikes me, I haven't had something as decadent this year. The smoke is super dense; like velvet. What the hell is this I'm smoking? It's a rich mushroom core that is sweet in a natural almost pollen way; no syrup or caramel.

The sautéed mushroom core is pushed back sightly as the cigar evolves, there is a definite porridge aspect now, possibly even rice pudding. Still incredibly rich with heavy smoke struggling to float off the foot of the cigar.

The Delicias manages to somehow conjure up past memories of the El Rey del Mundo Petit Corona for me, sightly less sugar-sweet but still a close relation. Talking about sugar-sweet, that incredibly candy floss/cotton candy aroma is all around me.

Yes, the burn and ash was majestic. Sadly a sneeze brought an end to the ash.

Finishing up this 25 minute beauty and a final flurry is brought with a lovely burst of aniseed waves.

Time to rethink Fonseca if this is what they are putting out now. For a small format this is going to give my Partagas Shorts and San Cristobal El Principe a serious run for their money.

Bought a box of these back in 08 I think. Price was in the neighborhood of $2.00/stick at the time. They look snazzy with the tissue paper thus I found friends that don't know cigars tend to choose them. For me, that's just what they're for. ;-)

Thanks for the review and holding up the Fonseca flag 001biggrin.gif .

I had a similar experience with a Delicias from 2012 this year and had to get the rest of the box asap, my previous Fonsecas have been mediocre at best but this little TC stick got the marca back on the screen for me.

Nice review! I've always been attracted to Fonsecas because I do like the tissue paper presentation. A lot of the reviews have been less than positive though, so I'm glad to see one get some love.
