Hi there everyone.

Looking at adding a portable fan with timer in my Coolidor.  I know many of you probably have those hard to find OUST fans, but with no avail I've resulted in searching online and came across this:

https://www.amazon.ca/D-FantiX-Portable-Rechargeable-Personal-Handheld/dp/B01DLQLV5C/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1472496865&sr=8-12&keywords=portable+fan+battery+operated

I currently have a Igloo Marine 72 quart.  And since my collection is continuing to grow I wanted something small to circulate the air within the cooler.

Any electronics you put into an insulated space will create heat. It would be best to control it with a timer and run it for very short durations at a high frequency. Don't run it all the time unless your cooler is in a cool space and you need the heat.

Otherwise cannot se why it won't work for you.

I had this dilemma and Macguyvered a solution.  I  have 4 mini fans in my 2 coolers.

Here are the fans.  the cords are fairly long.  I route them out through the drain cap that surprisingly will screw back on keeping a good seal.

I use this to set intermittent air circulation.

and this to distribute power to each of the fans.

works pretty good for me.  have one cooler laying flat.  have one fan on each side.  have one cooler upright with drawers and shelves, have one on top and one on bottom.

Good luck!

Creative! Bravo!

One issue here is again the creation of heat. Hopefully not an issue to you.

One drawback of this solution is the variable speed control. You see, DC motors should be controlled via PWM or some form of high frequency drive. A variable resistor is simply another means of generating heat. If you use these, turn the speed all the way up!

Cudos for creativity!

I make a timed unit, but heat is an issue with them. Since they have an integral timer and a 25 CFM fan, they blow a lot of air and have few wires but they do get warm!
