Bolivar RE Rusia Emperador

Hermosos #2 48 X 5.2

Grand Corona

0902/2500

As the picture shows below I gave up, the sticker won this time. Box code will remain a mystery for now. I'm not a reviewer, so please excuse the lack of journalistic professionalism. Just wanted to share a wonderful experience I recently encountered with this cigar.

1st:

Upon lighting, tons of thick chewy smoke. Smoke leaves a oil slick on the palette. My tongue quickly begins numbing in the front. The hallmark Bolivar earthiness is the first flavor I tasted, followed quickly by a nutty/creamy-type cashew note. There is light syrupy sweetness in there as well. The retro is powerful, sharp red pepper off initial light. All notes were strong lasting flavors on the palette. Bold Boli. Right off the bat very multi dimensional. Body is full at this point and strength is a honest medium .

2nd:

The construction is above par, burn is slightly wavy, no touch ups were needed. The draw is impeccable still tons of smoke.

Earthiness is beginning to stand forward almost like a peat flavor but not overpowering. The nuttiness and sweetness is taking a back seat but are found on the finish. I found that both the nutty & sweetness begin to creep in on the retro, very pleasant. The heavy pepper thru the nose has thankfully calmed down a little. The finish is remains oily and long, coating the palette, and never leaving in between draws. Body is full, strength is high medium. This is old school Boilvar to me.

Last 3rd:

My tongue is still getting the novocaine treatment. Strength is now at full and extremely noticeable, nuttiness is back in full force, earthiness is traded places with a roasted tobacco. I tapped out with about a inch or so left as it became a little harsh and resiny.

Final thoughts:

Take my money!!! Best Bolivar I've had to date. Loved the transitions and boldness. Recommend after dinner with a stiff drink, or on a day you got fired from work, got your divorced papers finalized, or just feel like getting punched in the face by a cigar. Thanks for reading!

Great review Eric!

You got a lot more out of a cigar than I ever could. Loved the read.

My divorce is coming through soon, so may have to get one to try?

Thank you guys for the kind words.
This cigar really did brought me back in time, with the memories of the old Bolivars and some older cigars of yesteryear. Bolivars like the Churchill and corona extras came into my mind. Fun experience down memory lane.
