Anyone ever tried this?

Distilled in 2010, bottled in 2016.    For some reason I was on a mission to buy a cheaper bottle than the Lahproaig's and Lagavulin's that I have been enjoying of late.   God, what a terrible idea it was.

Finally got a bottle of ardbeg 10. Wow.  My new favorite.  So powerful and tasty.  

I really want to try some older malts now. Like talisker 18.  But the price is double that of the 10.  Really hard to justify.   Do you guys feel the steep price increase is worth it in general?

It is justified, to a point. Once you go much above $125-150, there are greatly diminishing returns.

Completely agree, I find that to be true all across the whiskey world.

My GF recently gave me a 3 bottle pack of talisker 10/storm/DE

All 3 were great, but at the end of it all, I enjoy the 10 the most.

Gotta say, I just love Talisker
