Nrengle
2009 H.Upmann EL Lit at 4:45pm Pre light nice taste of sweet tobacco and cake? First light smells of a finely stocked humidor, sweet tobacco, and earth. Tastes of black and red pepper slightly, earth, and leather. Had a mild run but a quick correction and all good now. It's an old stick so not unexpected as they've been from Vancouver all across the US on tour with me and finally in my wineador for the last 2 months. Flavors are mellowing out now, mostly getting the earth taste, pepper had disappeared. Honestly starting to get the slightest hint of wheat/straw. Some tunneling starting to happen. But could be because I was paying more attention to my smoker than my smoke haha. Still very mellow and earthy in flavor. Got the tunneling corrected smoked pretty straight on from here on out. Flavor profile never really changed too much till the very end when it got a little hot and I got s bit of caramelized sugar. I smoked this down to the point I couldn't hold it anymore. This is one of those rare gems for me and the fact the tobacco is nearly 9 years old astounds me. That being said I'm glad I got to try it and have 3 more in my wineador; but I won't be chasing this one down like I have the 2012 EL.
