Tesoro12 Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Strong praise from the Halfwheel crew on the model that our host is selling. From my time reading this particular blog, Patrick (the writer) is particularly hard on reviews but he had strong praise for the traveler. Thought others might be interested in case they were on the fence for purchasing. Halfwheel Cigar Traveller CT30
Lotusguy Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 So both lighters do use regular bic and not necessarily the "fuel cell" they sell? Not BIC, but the more square disposable lighters. 1
irratebass Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 This just popped up in my email feed from Halfwheel, didn't realize this was the same as FOH....thanks for posting this.
KGM Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 Quote After the ignition button is released, fuel will continue to flow and the lighter will still emit a flame, though it will decrease gradually and go out in a matter of seconds, or if you give it a good puff of air to snuff it out. It’s a feature that I’m not crazy about as I hate wasting fuel, but it is a byproduct of the current design of the Cigar Traveller and every similar device I have tried, so it’s not like there is a better option readily available. I just want to point out that the author is incorrect in regards to not being able to resolve this. It is very simple to adjust the flame level with these lighters. Just remove the metal sheath, lift the lever, rotate lever left or right to increase/decrease gas, reseat lever on gear, slide metal sheath back on and enjoy. 1
Gunson Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 I have the Soto. When it breaks or when I lose it I'll def replace with the FOH

PapaDisco Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 As Lotus Guy says; the Bic won't work, but the other generic disposables will. When I get home I'll look up the model I found, says something like "YKK" on the chrome bit (like the zipper but not quite). And the slow-to-extinguish flame bit is only a problem when you've maxed out the fuel load. Turn down the flow or don't overfill and it's fine. It's my favorite travel lighter now. 1
