I will be in Shanghai from mid next week with good mates Rob Fox and Justin Seldis.  We are staying at the  InterContinental Shanghai Ruijin which is closeby to where we will be having our cigar dinner and get togethers.

We will be in Shanghai for  week

Each of us are lovers of good food, wine and cigars. While i have been to Shanghai a few times now, it is a city that i struggle to recogise from one trip to another as so much is going on.

For those who know this city well, can you list for me your favourite places to eat, smoke, drink.....party. Great restaurants, bars,divans/places to enjoy a cigar, places to kick back in the evening with good music. If you can add their details it would be much appreciated.  Essentially, the things that you love to do when in Shanghai.

Will post plenty of photo's :D

One of my favorite places when I was based in Shanghai a few years back, was The Park Tavern in Xujiahui. Great Sports Bar with nice pub grub.

If you are in need of bespoke suits/shirts/slacks you can have a full wardrobe of very nice quality clothing made within a few days at the South Bund Soft Spinning Material Market (or the Shanghai Fabric Market).  They will measure you while you wait and can have your purchases delivered to your hotel.  I was able to buy two suits (one wool blend, one linen), a dozen shirts and several pants for ~$250USD.  Everything is customizable (horn or shell buttons, French collars, etc).  Go to stall 237 and and for Jenny or Hui Hui, they will take care of you.

Not sure if you are staying in the Bund or across in Pudong, but there are many hotel bars that permit smoking of cigars.  The Roosevelt on the Bund has the largest wine cellar in Asia and a very nice rooftop bar which offers a view across to Pudong - really nice at night.  I met Yao Ming in the elevator there two years ago.

They are all over Shanghai, so you have no excuse for missing out on Din Tai Fung - awesome dumplings.  Careful, they are lava-hot.  Also, Yangs Fry Dumpling is good as well.  Try to check out the Anthony Bourdain - Parts Unknown special on Shanghai.

Wish I could have made it out there, but it looks like it will be August before I am back.

I'll second the Din Tai Fung call...cannot go wrong!  Shame I'm not around but I'll be in NYC if anyone wants to meet?!

You will be doing all the best lounges .... tough question Rob.

How about something completely different like a North Korean dinner in Shanghai now that Barbie is no longer in town ?

This covers everything from high speed to Fabric Market to Roosevelt lounge to Dunhill cigar lounge and North Korean beauties :
