jwr0201 Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 Does anyone use strictly Boveda packs on their wineador? I'm about to replace all of my HCM beads and am leaning towards going strictly with Boveda packs. Of course, the wineador is plastic, but I currently have four wooden shelf/drawers with sides. Those will soon be replaced to allow more box storage. BTW, reason for replacing the HCM beads is that they have a slight off-order. They work well, but so do my Bovedas in the desktops.
magoo6541 Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 I did when I had a smaller wineador. I had the holders under the shelves and then would put packs in the boxes if there was room. Worked well for me.
ThePolskiOgorki Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 I found that having 6 large Bovedas are enough to keep the rh in my NewAir 28 pretty stable. The only issue is recovery time after I open the door for a little game of box Tetris. Not a big concern to me really, but depending on how particular you are about stuff like that, having a few extra might help. 1
khamy Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 i've got a 28 cnt wineador and use about 6 large 69% packs and about another 8 smaller packs (get them free when buying boxes.) The space is constantly full so i think that helps with stability. also have cedar sides (the cedar you get in cigar boxes). with my experience more packs provides piece of mind. i find it is stable at 63% humidity. i use to use kitty litter but found it does get quite dry so replaced with boveda's about 6 months to a year ago and its much more stable.
golfdude888 Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 Hi jwr0201, like kam I also have a 28cnt wineador but I have only 4 large 69% boveda packs a couple of smaller ones as well. I also have 2 bags of the boveda beads from El Prez just from my first time climatising the wineador and never took them out. Also kam’s tip of lining the side's of the wineador with cedar sheets from empty boxes might have helped. My temps are something like 17°-18° Celsius at 60%-63%. Played Tetris yes with the boxes and once a month I check in on them and rotate as I please. Gotta stop going in on splits as they can start to take up space let alone buying a box ! Roughly the same here (6-8 large packs), and I was pretty happy with the results. I think I was replacing packs every month or so, IIRC. Toward the end, I moved over to 1.5 pounds of Heartfelt beads in each wineador. But the Boveda packs worked just fine.
JackFNQ Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 The space is constantly full so i think that helps with stability. That makes alot of sense - I am thinking from my high humidity tropical environment perspective. i use to use kitty litter but found it does get quite dry I have read that once they get to a certain moisture content, KL works well, both releasing and receiving water content. ???
Memphsdad Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 I use strictly large 65 boveda packs and have had no issues.
