Popular Post schubb Posted April 17, 2016 Popular Post Posted April 17, 2016 The Romeo y Julieta Churchills are another cigar that have been really impressing me. I got a PSP box from our host a few months ago and they’ve just been blowing me away with a nice, lighter profile of cherries and cream. I’ve been a sucker recently for a bit of fruit in the profile, which has led me more towards SLR, Ramon Allones, this, and the Magnum 50s in the last few months. Weather is 78 degrees outside with no wind, so it’s the perfect time to break out a Churchill for a relaxing two hours on a Sunday evening. Prelight: Nice rosado wrapper with a bit of an oily sheen. Draw after clipping the cap is on the tighter side, almost a complete opposite to the Magnum 50 I had to start the weekend. 78 degrees, no wind. Start: 4:14pm 1st third: Starts out with light cherries and cream, just so smooth. Well under medium body to start. Burn is about as even as I could hope for. Smoking this reminds me of a cherry dessert my grandmother used to make when I was little that I loved. Cream and cherries profile starting to ramp up through the end of the first third, coming in just under medium body now. Got a couple of big, fat bees buzzing around and watching me. Touch of cocoa/chocolate starting to join the profile which is fantastic. The draw has just about the perfect amount of resistance, and is producing thick clouds of white smoke by the end of the first third. 2nd third: All cream, cherries, and a bit of chocolate. Stepped up to solidly medium body now for me. Burn is excellent, construction is excellent. No complaints at all. Final third: Continuation of the middle third, just a bit more intense, maybe just a touch above medium bodied. A little bit of youth/heat coming through towards the end but not much at all. Still just wonderfully smooth and flavorful. I didn’t have to do any touchups on the burn start to finish, which is a testament to the excellent construction on this excellent cigar. The RyJ Churchill is a dessert cigar for me, and a great way to end the weekend. End: 6:22pm 5
PapaDisco Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 I've got a couple of boxes of PMU '14's that I've been hoping to get another 2-3 years on before smoking them. You are making that hard! 1
jmg Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 the more I read about these, the more i wish I jumped on them during the last 24:24. good review!
schubb Posted April 18, 2016 Author Posted April 18, 2016 I've got a couple of boxes of PMU '14's that I've been hoping to get another 2-3 years on before smoking them. You are making that hard! That was my plan too, it just got a little derailed when I smoked one a few weeks ago to see how they were doing. Gonna try to bury the rest of these and forget about them for a bit, but it'll be a challenge. Maybe one every few months just to check in
TheMonk Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 Very nice review, thanks for sharing! I'm not a big fan of these RyJ Churchills, but they do seem to get a lot of love.
gr8eman Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Love the booklet for rating cigars. Never seen that. Where can I get one?

schubb Posted April 22, 2016 Author Posted April 22, 2016 http://www.33books.com/products/33-cigars That's it right there. They are also available through Amazon if you have Prime and need everything in two days like me.

It comes with little glue dots that allow you to fix the labels in the review. Havent use them for few years now but I confess it's good to make a diary or remember how a cigar evolves.
