Popular Post jmg Posted April 17, 2016 Popular Post Posted April 17, 2016 So I'm not much of a reviewer and my palate is limited. Also somewhat of a newb on the forums. But with el prez offering up a competition, I figured why not? smoked on saturday afternoon paired with black coffee. the smell of the wrapper is of cream and barnyard. the foot is the same as above with hay. after a v-cut, the cold draw brings in grass The 1st draw hits me with strong tobacco. This transitions to a rich depth of earth by the third draw with the strong tobacco fading. Continuing into the 1st third, notes of espresso and pepper show up. On my first retro, the tobacco that faded shows back up in strength with pepper on the back. A light cream begins to show up and continues to be on the forefront followed by pepper and tobac on the finish. My 2nd retro, the pepper is replaced with grass. Honey notes are detected as I transition into the 2nd third. The tobacco has subsided with the cream moving to the forefront. Wood notes starting to show with cedar as the leader. A few more draws brings on a full cream backed by green summer grass. The tobac flavor is still strong on the finish. Honey and espresso start showing themselves again and the pepper is gone. Retrohale brings the earth back Transitioning into the last third, roasted coffee begins to show up with a light honey finish. Burn has not wavered at all and this cigar has been smoking like a champ, even at rest. Ash has held tight, falling off at each third, as evidenced in the ashtray. The roasted coffee takes turns with the espresso and I start to get oak on the finish. As I move towards the end, the honey has moved forward with espresso on the back and a cream finish. Final smoke time was 91 minutes and the cigar did not get hot, even to the nub. I normally dont pay this much attention as I smoke but having to write down the notes for this review made me realize why I continuously reach for this cigar. The transitions between flavors as they go back and forth, fading and coming back, really make me appreciate this smoke. All the secondary flavors supporting the main ones, excellent construction and burn, and a great size for 90 minutes, all are factors that make this cigar, one that "rocks my jocks!" 5
