Ken Gargett Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 wondering if any members have tried this. after various rums were blended, it spent a further year in a once used bourbon barrel. only 9,600 bottles but don't have a price. it is the first of a new series from angostura called their Cask Collection (the second has a larger production and was in french oak). tried it yesterday for the first time. thought it was terrific. at the sweeter end of the spectrum but complex and very much in balance.
sengjc Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 Haven't tried this particular release but have had their regular 1824 and 1919. While I don't drink much rum, I can say that they make very good quality rum.

While I don't drink much rum, I can say that they make very good quality rum. this release sits just above the 1919 price-wise. though i think the quality deserves it to be even higher. the next Cask Release 'once used french oak' will be priced above 1824. mind you, none of them go close to their Legacy! only 20 bottles made and a mere $25,000 each!
shlomo Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 That's quite a lot to pay for rum. Whisky snob. LOL 1
sengjc Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 Whisky snob. LOL ...or any other kinds of drink for that matter. Anyway, back on topic. This rum that is mentioned (not the $25,000 bottling) doesn't appear to be widely available. Was it a special tasting that you attended or something?
