You might lose them.

I got greedy last year, took a gamble and lost.

I have heard from most of the people I know that go to Cuba specifically to replenish their supply that in the last year customs has got down right nasty regarding cigars without receipts. It's like playing russion roulette. Really it's too late now to worry about it. Play stupid and ask for forgiveness. Who knows you might get lucky.

Also I just received three boxes of cigars from my friend returning from Cuba. The D4's are riddled with holes (7 sticks in total) any suggestions on how long to keep them in the deep freeze? I don't want to have beetles throughout my humidor.

About customs I think it is just your bad luck.

I made friends with a fellow Canadian Manzanillo Cuba. He tried to leave with 8 boxes, roughly 200 cigars. He got stopped in Cuba at the airport. He was fined and his cigars ceased, except for his 50 allowed and an extra box that was exempted as it was a gift and also exempt. So divide you loot as many ways as you can. Of course these were all after market cigars, no receipts. An expensive lesson, so don't get carried away.

Ok so I'm out of the island with all my cigars, here's what happened:

I put all the boxed cigars in the two checked bags (my friend's and mine) and is less than 50 per bag. Then I carried my 100 custom rolls (no receipt) with me as carry-on.

When going through the security check I was asked if I was traveling by myself, and got the okay when I told them the cigars were between my friend and I. They did still check the quality of the cigars rather thoroughly, I'm guessing because they don't want me taking out street crap. My custom rolls are from Conde Villanueva and they seemed happy with the quality.

Overall it went pretty smooth.
