Miller1985 Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 So I've outgrown my 400 ct wineador and am in the market for a new humidor. Last night I noticed the big ass gun safe that no longer houses guns, and thought about making it into a humidor. Has anyone heard of this? Would it be possible? Terrible idea? Any advice is appreciated.
LordAnubis Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 If it has a decent seal and can handle some humidity in it then sure, anything can technically be a humidor. These things exist http://www.ammodors.com so i don't see why you can't do it out of a gun safe. That being said though i have no idea what a gun safe is or what one looks like, but it can't be anything more than a steel box right?
LordAnubis Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 And BAHAHAHAHAHHA was jsut checking out that ammodore website and came across this picture.. http://www.ammodors.com/wp-content/uploads/IMG_23041.jpg Should i post it up on the suspect cigar sub forum or what?
Miller1985 Posted January 21, 2016 Author Posted January 21, 2016 That thing is badass!!! Mine is quite a bit larger... Weighs almost 600 pounds and has bar locks. It's a big ass floor safe.
Miller1985 Posted January 21, 2016 Author Posted January 21, 2016 Here is the link to what mine looks like http://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/winchester-24-gun-grey-gun-safe-with-electronic-lock-and-30-min-fire-rating?cm_vc=-10005
BigRay023 Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Most good gun safes have a pretty decent seal. They are designed to protect against fire, heat and water(from extinguishing the fire). I know mine does and I even keep beads in it to keep moisture out and prevent rust.
