I got back to the tundra after a very relaxing and enjoyable week in Phoenix, even if the weather wasn't as nice as it had been in previous years. Still got to go golfing, enjoy some cigars outside and do some random things here and there.

I packed up 16 cigars for my weeklong trip. Mostly CCs but had a few NCs in there as well. All quality sticks.

What I didn't do was check the forecast. Hindsight being 20/20 that was really dumb, being outside when its 50 out, without enough clothes, and having a double corona isn't the brightest thing to do (but to be fair I'm not immune to brain dead stunts either).

Just about all the cigars I packed were double robustos, churchills or double coronas. Lesson learned...

I also think I wasted some really nice cigars on the golf course. PSP RYJ Churchill, Lusi, Monte 2 and so on are just not golf cigars for me. When I have a cigar on my deck I want to experience the transitions and flavors. When I'm on the course, I want a distraction from thinking about golf too much. I'm not enjoying or getting the flavors as much as if I'm focusing on it. So the second failure on my part was not bringing the right cigars to the right places.

Despite that, the trip was enjoyable. Can't say that I was looking forward to the flight home, the -5 temp that assaulted me as i was leaving the plane in MSP or work yesterday. But all vacations do come to an end.

Now I just have to find a way to survive another 3 1/2 months of winter.

When traveling, location and condition are often difficult to control so I like to travel with mostly smaller, inexpensive cigars like marevas and minutos/perlas. If I'm feeling bold maybe a robusto but I'll try and make that a Quintero Favoritos.

There's nothing worse than only having 90-minute+ cigars in cooler outdoor conditions or on-the-move situations. It can ruin the whole experience. Even 55-60 degrees feels fine when you start but after an hour or so your hands start feeling it.

I just find that I like less complicated cigars when outdoors and fishing, golfing, etc. You're more likely to drop them, handle them roughly, etc. The Favoritos and JLP really come in handy at those times.

Living here in Phoenix we are spoiled by the weather.... Been wearing a heavy coat when I smoke for 3 weeks now at 50 degrees .....LOL

Hang in there....at least we're getting almost a minute each day of extra light.
