I keep seeing reference to ***** From the Barrel on this site. Being that other Suntory whiskey's are available in the United States such as ***** Harmony and 12, I am surprised this one is not available. From my searches on the net, it seems like it available for slightly less than the current ***** offerings. From the Barrel seems to be a $40-50 (more my sweet spot) whiskey where ***** Harmony and 12 are $70+. Being that Suntory just bought Beam for what one would assume would be to leverage their distribution channels, why isn't ***** From the Barrel available in the US? I see that it is available in Western Canada, why not the US?

I don't think I've seen From the Barrel or the Pure Malt offerings from ***** anywhere in NYC, I bought a bottle of each whilst passing through Frankfurt airport earlier this year. No idea why they don't offer those ones here - I need to get another of the Pure Malt black!

Early this year, I saw a website saying they had it. They even had a picture

I ordered it, and it was the NAS pure malt that I got - They said some outside company did their website. I got a fair refund, but I would call them first to make sure on something odd like that

500mL bottles are not permissible in the US.

I have known about this law since the Mortlach Rare Old came out with 2 versions, but anybody know why this apparently silly bit of legislation exists?

Especially since there is no rule against the silly 375 ml offerings of Hudson

500ml/.5L bottles are illegal in the US? I could swear I had bought some at the Great Lakes distillery a few years back.

I think technically 700ml is too, but there are plenty of scotches with that weight.

Yes, 500 mL bottles are illegal in the US. 375 mL are 1/2 bottles, yes, they're legal. So are 200 mL and 50 mL bottles.

I don't know what the deal is with 1.13 L.

1.75 L is because they're a half gallon, as opposed to the 4/5 of a quart that the 750 mL bottles are.

Interesting. I swear I've seen cheap vodka at my local store sold in 500ml plastic bottles.
