Gents,

I'm writing a screenplay at the moment based on a true story. It's about 1/3 finished currently. Bu what do I do when I'm done?

Does anyone know how to have it read by an agent or producer? And then produced?

Anyone out there had one of their own read before?

I own the life rights to it also.

Any advice would be much appreciated as google searching throws up odd options.

Cheers.

Best to get an editor to review and edit. A good one will charge you an arm and a leg, but may have contacts that can be useful.

So basically I have no chance of progressing? Oh well. Will see how it goes.

Good passion/relaxation project. Cheers guys. :)

Hey man,

I've never done a script, but having self-published 3 books now I can offer some advice... I'll reiterate what someone else said: find a good editor, which will cost between 0.005 - 0.010 c/word. Before you do this, however, find some beta readers (people who have read scripts before, people who read in the genre) and have them read it through first to look for plot holes, character arc consistencies, etc. These can be free (friends, family, strangers you've met online), while others offer it as a service.

When you are done, why not self-publish it first to see what people think? If you are not interested in that route (lots of marketing, web presence etc -- check my other post), I know amazon has a script publishing arm: https://studios.amazon.com/help/submitting-a-script.

Is it a TV or movie script? I think it's a good time for the former, given the sudden increase in new venues producing unique content (netflix, amazon, etc).

If you want details of my editor or have any other specific questions (pricing, etc), just holler.

Good luck and remember finishing the writing is just the first step.

Thank you so much Pat... great advice. It is a very confusing landscape it seems.

It is a movie.

I've just had it 'treated' by an editor here, but only a soft pass. More to go.

Will possibly drop you a line after that. :)
