UpInSmoak
Monte 4 POU DIC 12 - Weekend Review Competition A beautiful looking cigar. Dark oily wrapper. Appears to have nice construction, a firm roll, with no noticeable soft spots. Guillotine cut, near perfect draw. Leathery, dark chocolate notes on the cold draw. Let's put this to flame. 1/3 Toasted the foot with a single jet torch, nice combustion and billows of smoke. Big dark chocolate notes with a bite. Lips sting just slightly. Dark black coffee comes into play. 2/3 The dark chocolate and strong coffee drifts in and out. The smoke becomes richer, bolder, and darker. Leather comes in and out. Almost an earthy taste, but again dark as well, if that makes sense. The smoke is viscous, almost overpowering, but not quite. Still very enjoyable and strong. 3/3 It's picking up and becoming even more full body. Hints of bitterness....maybe it's age coming through. Many of you consider a Monte 4 with 3 yrs ready to go. While I wouldn't disagree with that, this box was dripping with oil when I first received them. (PSP program). I'm in the school of thought that oily wrappers need a much longer time to reach their optimum. While it is still smoking beautifully towards the end. I believe these are years away from hitting their potential. Probably 3-5+ years away would be best for my palette. Still a remarkable smoke. Robs pic when they posted for sale 2 yrs or so ago. And a few from today with flash on and off.
