El Presidente Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 A little news article. I did have a chuckle. The only hotel operations that make money in Cuba are those that package deals out of Cuba (and hence keep their money nowhere near Cuba). Hotel margins are pretty tight world wide. The Cuban workforce is notoriously "inventive".....through necessity....and onsite operational hotel margins in Cuba reflect the environment. No major hotel in Cuba that I know of makes an operational profit. Cuban JV partnerships have been a great way to lose money or worse http://www.voanews.com/content/reu-us-hotel-chains-cuba/2992182.html
gmcgowen76 Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Good article, on point. I will not be visiting anytime soon. The people of Cuba want us there, but the government, for the most part, says otherwise.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
drunkbuckeye Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 My friend is speaking of taking a cruise there next year. Perhaps in early spring. Makes for a nice plan B!
brschoppe Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 I wonder if Hilton will make a claim on the Hotel Libre? However, from what I understand, that hotel was owned by the Cuban Catering Workers Union prior to the revolution and just managed by Hilton.
poloralf Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 It is a place worth to go. Like going back in the past. A few shots of my visit last week And of course. Habanos 1
