Hey All,

Sat down last night with a Dip 1 that I had picked up in a partial box from a great BOTL. Was at a herf and figured it would be great for sitting around conversing.

The wrapper on this stick was very delicate; at the foot it was separating and when I clipped the cap with my palio it shattered beneath it - nothing that a bit of spit (my cigar glue of choice) on my thumb couldn't mend.

The draw on this stick was tight, too tight for my liking, but it's my favourite stick so I was filling to fight it out. Plus I was hoping for one of those sticks that even thought the draw is tight the flavours are great - I got my wish.

Right off the bat it performed. I got flavours of chocolate and coffee with cream for the first inch or so. The first third was the star and unfortunately it went downhill has I had to 2-puff it to get any smoke output.

After the first 1.5 inches I started getting some nutty flavours mixed in with the cream and coffee notes and was really enjoying it. The age of this cigar is showing - every puff is smooth and really enjoyable. Until the tight roll came into play. About half way through the tight roll and the double puffing starting to have consequences - the smoke got bitter and the draw got worse and worse.

I set it down after 40 minutes - but I truly enjoyed the first 30 minutes of that.

Nice review. Had one of these from 2001 a couple of weeks back. Thankfully I got lucky - perfect construction. Cracking smokes when they're on form. Glad to hear that the first 30 mins were enjoyable at least.
