I just had a PL Galanes yesterday with this very note. I love it! In fact, it was the very thing that "saved" an otherwise bitter cigar.

The cigar may have been otherwise bitter and bland because of traces of perfume that got into the filler. The Unicos I referenced here had sections where the perfume was more obvious and the rest of the flavour underneath was very flat, dry and bland, but where the perfume note faded away, the cigar's natural richness came through.

I’m not denying what someone else tasted. And God only knows what goes on in a Cuban rolling room. I’m just saying there’s a crazy range of flavours in Cuban tobacco.

Interesting idea. My counterpoint to that would be a perfumy Monte 4 that I had previously that was both perfumy *and* otherwise delicious and flavorful. Now, I've only experienced this perfumy phenomenon 4 times or so, so I really am lacking enough experience to draw any trends at this point.

I've smoked a few where I swear somebody scratched their ass.

Having visited several factories on the island, I can attest to the absence of hand soap in the washrooms.

Where do you think that “twang” comes from, my fellow brother. 😉

Best not think about it, quite frankly.
