So my DuPont maxijet has gotten a bit scuffed over the years (damn chrome finish and accidentally putting it in pocket with keys without a cover) so this has got me thinking about maybe giving it a revamp and possibly spraying it with a design of some kind.

I'm not particularly artistic but can I figure I can mask off a design and spray it. My question however is has any tried this before. I'm wondering would regular spray paint do the job or would I need some heat resistant paint (not that the outside would get too hot.

Also depending on how complex it is to reassemble I may just spray the body and not the head or trigger as I know the body just slides off if you undo the bottom screw.

So has anyone any experience of painting any jet lighter (doesn't have to be a maxijet) or is there some kind of wrap I could get to use instead (similar to what the kids do with their cars wrapping them in those vinyl skins).

Thanks

I've a brass Zippo I've thought of embellishing (would love to go sterling silver with design/etching). Here's a thought for yours - perhaps mask off a design, then put it in a container partially filled with pennies (or whatever coins, or other media), and shake shake shake!

Not flash, but might be unique - good luck!

Shouldnt be too hard to do dara mate.

In fact i also have the exact same lighter and its incredibly easy to disassemble including the trigger. In fact worryingly so lol. The whole thing comes apart with just one screw.

Car paint would do the job nicley. You can get a can for about 5 which would be well enough for 3 coats and then some.

Have a look at some of the minijet lighters for inspiration, some really good colour combos available.

Matte black with gloss red trigger looks fantastic (like the defi extreme)

Gloss white with matte black trigger also looks awesome.

Would literally take 20 mins to do mate, let us know how you get on.
