Scores of 90-95 are great smokes and I have only had a handful of these, 95-100 are Epiphany scores that I might get 2 or 3 of a year. I'm not saying that your scoring is wrong, I'm only saying it is subjective. Therefore, a lot of people who age cigars regularly for long periods of time beleive it is worth the wait for a cigar to go from 83 to 90+ Sent by telepathic super powers -Stogie Boy Yes, it is subjective. I truly believe there are more than a handful cigars which will never benefit more than a few points over the years. In my book a good young cigar can be anywhere from 80-100 just like a good aged ones. I am not going to limit my score under 85 just because a cigar is young. :-) neither because of its size. if its good, its good. I have scored cigars 95 under 3 years, and I have scored aged under 90 with the exact same system. There is nothing wrong to give high scores for something you like even if its young :-) therefore there is nothing wrong to smoke them under 3-5 years and not to age. Anyway ageing is a side effect to me, happening because buying more than I smoke. Most of the time I am not buying cigars dedicated to age.I do agree with the last part. It worth the wait from 83 to 90+ but not for me from 92 to 94. But its all subjective and personal. Nothing is good or wrong here. And lovely to talk about different habits and likes within the same hobby and try things because of other' s habits... ;-)

Some people won't be giving any "good" cigar regardless of the age a 90+. Great or epiphany ratings are different than good. You may smoke it, say it's good, and give it a 92, while someone else will smoke it, say it's good, give it an 82 and say it needs 5 years. Sent by telepathic super powers -Stogie Boy 1
subport Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 yeah sure, me neither On 7/23/2015 at 1:46 PM, Lant63 said: I think you missed my point. My point is - it all goes back to personal taste, rather than any scoring system. Some of us love the young and fresh power and taste. (and the rating system is not all about taste) You know, you might not like bitter taste while the other one is dying for it. (generally) Never had that huge difference in rating cigars with my friends or at all, in fact usually I am the one who is on the lower side But still had 95p mag 46 under 2 yrs...not saying all of them are like that but been there. You know when all the stars aligns, it can happen. So yes, I am ready to give 90+ for young cigars and if a box is like that, you can be sure I will go through it without trying to age or even think about it edit: but I know what you mean. Just my own example is a box of Upmann mag 50. everybody was saying how good they are fresh right now... for me wasn't any close to 90. so put them away and not smoking out of that box for a year or two at all. Sir winnie is almost the same. Glorious first, ok second and unacceptable last third said to me not to try from that box for year(s) again... so got ya, but every story has two sides.
ogus Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 SD4, shorts, HU Roy Rob, Trini Reyes when right as well as Montie 4
luv2fly Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 I always smoke one ROTT. It has always been fantastic. That said, I have found that if I smoke another one a week later I do find it different. Just my tastes I guess. They do smooth out if I can manage to leave them alone for 30 days or so after they come in the mail.
luv2fly Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Also, the gang hooked me up with a few boxes for my wedding almost 2 years ago. The boxes already had age on them and I am still working through what is left. They are brilliant now. About 4 years on them, on the average.
