thecapo Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Hello Fellow FOH Family: I am going to Guanacaste/Liberia in Costa Rica July 20th for ten days. Does anyone have advise on legit CC stores or lounges. I know there is an LCDH in San Jose but that is 3-4 hrs away! Much appreciated with any input.
Troels Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Well its been 15 years since I was there. As I recall even finding a Mars bar outside of San Jose was tough back then. There was a nice cuban guy that had a cigar store opposite the opera in San Jose back then. Went in and had a chat with owner, that gifted me a costum roll that was actually my first cc.

Are you saying that the Dream has a shop? If so, did they have a nice variety? Pricing as well. Thanks in advance.
madandana Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 No, not a shop. Just some smokes in the gift shop. Small variety and high prices. I had been passing out Sticks that I had brought with me so to recipricate one of the guys bought some Monti 4. The Montis were good but I would not recommend making any effort to pay a visti. Bring your own smokes. Oh, and have a great trip, beautiful country.
scottm12 Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 Bring your own, everything is pretty questionable outside of the lcdh in San Jose, but you might try some of the local Tico cigars just for fun. If your in guanacaste try the beach town of of playa del coco. You can smoke at most of the outdoor restaurants and it has a lot less surf bums than Tamarindo.
Dozerhead Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 I was at Playa del coco about 7 years ago and there was a little shop close to the beach that had a small, but legit selection...mostly Monte's and a few boxes of H. Upmann, including Mag 46's. I don't remember the name of the place and I'm not sure if it is even still there, but they also served coffee, too. There were also plenty of places that had Glass top fauxhibas in that town, too, so beware. Costa Rica isn't as bad as Mexico when it comes to fakes, but there are plenty of them there.

Bring a flashlite but keep your distance as not to disturb them. There's a gift shop in a mini strip mall that had some RyJ tubos but even the coloring on the tubos looked way off. let me know if you have other questions.
