Mycroft Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 I have heard it said that MUO was the box code for El Leguito for much of 2014.Rob's Esplendidos are MUO coded and so were the hugely lauded CoRos reviewed a couple of months ago. This is born out also by the behike box and several other cohiba boxes I glanced at in Dubai Duty Free a couple of days ago. But the Sep 2014 MUO coded box I bought there was not Cohiba, but a box of almost the cheapest cigar in the shop - Montecristo #5s. Anyone know what is going on there? Cohiba trainees rolling Monte 5s in El Leguito perhaps?
UpInSmoak Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 I would of jumped on those Monte 5's in a heartbeat. Did you get a look at how they looked. Supposedly el laguito has moved some the Behike production to other factories, hence being able to produce other sticks. Most would think that they would be cohiba, but I've seen (rob posted some time ago) MUO Lusitanias. I'm surprised but happy to hear that Monte 5s are coded MUO as well. I'd jump on those.
Smallclub Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 Supposedly el laguito has moved some the Behike production to other factories, hence being able to produce other sticks. They moved the BHK production to other factories because EL couldn't meet the demand, not to be able to roll other sticks… and they had the nerve to stamp the EL code on the cigars rolled at Partagas. I certainly wouldn't swear that these Monte were actually rolled at EL…
Mycroft Posted May 17, 2015 Author Posted May 17, 2015 Yes Upinsmoke I did see them and I did indeed jump on them. They have a rich, dark brown colour, not like the typical dusty reddish monte complexion. The flavour is very strong (definitely not cohibaish) and the draw is difficult and clogged up straight out of the humidor. After a day out of the box the draw becomes much better. So I guess this is the high oil content, young characteristic people talk about? I have not experienced that before.

If the draw is better after 1 day out of an humidor I can assure you that it has nothing to do with "oil content" or age of the cigar…

Mycroft Posted May 19, 2015 Author Posted May 19, 2015 You guys are right of course. After a few more days in my humidor they are fine. I guess they were stored badly at the duty free shop.
