Walt69 Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Ok, i know this isn't a CC, but i feel it would be a disservice to the community if I didn't at least do a short review of this new stick. It's coming from my phone also and the pics will be at the bottom, so my apologies in advance. The cigar itself is a beauty. The elegant bands contrast well with the deep dark chocolate color of the wrapper. Construction looks flawless and the scent coming off this thing is incredible "cocoa, barnyard, earth, pepper". I can hardly wait to toast this guy up. 1st third: Fairly big pepper and spice blast, although not as much as some other annis I've had. Toast, spice, coffee, dark cocoa are all present and fairly easy to detect throughout the 3rd, along with that certain "Padron-earthiness" that comes with just about every one I've had. 2nd third: The pepper and spice come waaaaaaay down and give way to a more sweetened earthy character that is more prominent on the retrohale and finish. The dark cocoa turns into a sweet milk chocolate with cream. This is probably my absolute favorite part of the cigar. Everything coming together in a medium-full bodied combination of flavors that don't seem to overpower one another. Brilliant. Final 3rd: the earth starts picking up again to the point where you can almost feel it deep in your chest. That pepper/spice is back also but nowhere near the intensity of the beginning. The sweetness is still there but is battling back and for for dominance with the more stout flavors of the dark earthiness and spice. This last 3rd i'll call a seasoned smokers delight as there's just about every flavor previously mentioned along with a bit of a nic-kick. I ended it with less than an inch remaining. I liked everything about this cigar. The construction is spot on, the smoke output was amazing putting off great billowy clouds of thick chewy smoke, the flavor profile was right up my ally. The only thing negative is the price. MSRP is 25$ US which makes this more of a special occasion stick. Truly a great stick, i advise anyone who has a chance to try one to do so if they like these flavor combinations. Thanks for reading!
bradbrennan Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 It sure is pretty great review, thanks for sharing!
CoCigarSmoker Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Outstanding review. I have a few of the Padron 1964's and 1926's in my humidor but none of the 50th Anni's. At the MSRP I just can't justify buying them when I can get CC's that I love for so much less. Still, I love me a good padron!! Cheers, Seth 1
Olga Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Nice review and thanks for sharing. Is this the same padron 50th that comes in this fancy humidor? Edit: your msrp is $20 while the one posted on different sites is around $100?
Walt69 Posted April 7, 2015 Author Posted April 7, 2015 Nice review and thanks for sharing. Is this the same padron 50th that comes in this fancy humidor? Thanks you guys! And no it's not the same. Padron came out with 2 blends to celebrate their 50th. This one is the regular family reserve maduro, and the ones you see there in the picture are affectionately known as "the hammer" which i believe retail closer to 75-100$ US.

So there a natural and maduro 50th and a The Hammer 50th. Thanks! I wonder if the $75-100 is that much better than the $20?
JohnS Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Thanks for the review. No apologies required for reviewing a Padron, they are class cigars.

I actually almost bought one while down in Tampa but couldn't bring myself to spend the dough when i could buy 3-4 of the regular 50ths for the same price, so unfortunately I can't give any .02 lol.

Professor Twain Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 I've smoked two of these and I can confirm, it's an amazing cigar. The rival of any cigar in the world. But way overpriced.
