This thread is beautiful! nice sticks and sampler....hope it comes back around sooner than later

Posted

It wasn't that long ago that I was telling golfdude88 (Steve) that I was purchasing cigars at my local tobacconist. Heck, I even had a go at importing a small sampler pack of NC's and hoping like hell to bypass customs (yeah, we all know what that feels like!). Nothing...and I mean nothing, compares to the incredible sensation of purchasing and receiving cigars from our host. It may seem that I am working for El Pres and team FoH in writing this, I assure all that I am not, my views are geniune.

Prior to finding FoH I was lost on a journey of isolation as smoking cigars with my small circle of family and friends could only take me so far. I am grateful for many here who express their views and have helped me in my enjoyment of my cigar hobby, you know who you are, and I know that this will continue in the future.

The purpose of this thread was to express gratitude. It's easier for our host to sell by the box, much less time consuming, but try to understand from the merchant's point of view. To actually take the time to choose high quality samples of cigars allows people like me (and many of you) to grow in my (and your) fine appreciation of the enjoyment of Cuban cigars, and in doing so, living large and being fraternal (as Rob would say!). In Australia, we who enjoy cigars are fighting a cultural backlash, a war it seems, for some type of understanding or acceptance. Our Government makes it so hard for all involved, the consumer, yes, but even more so for the traders. It was only a short time ago that sadly Sol Levy and Bogart's (thanks so much Norm and Pauline) closed their doors in my city of Sydney.

Try to understand what FoH therefore is up against, with our draconian Australian anti-tobacco laws. I for one, want to encourage El Pres, Di, Lisa and everyone at FoH to press on, you make a difference. My sampler RyJ Short Churchill was slightly box pressed, from what I have researched this is quite normal (it didn't even register upon opening). I have received 1 cigar in the last 30 or 40 in the last month from FoH with an imperfect foot....honestly, so what? What about the other 39 pretty much perfect cigars? (I feel like that one leper out of 10 in that parable who goes back to Jesus and thanks him for being cured here folks!) So, when your sampler offerings arrive soon friends, post pictures here and say thanks, keep it coming and be grateful! I know I am!

The only unfortunate thing about this is the way samplers are packed -- just sandwiched between 2 pieces of cardbord, then wrapped very tightly. I had 3 broken feet on my purchase before. Looks like neither of you did, and more power to you, but I was a bit crestfallen . . .

Let Greg know about your packaging concerns- he's the one that handles packing & shipping.

Baxter's? confused.gif Do you mean Bogart's? thinking.gif

Btw folks, a cracked foot still lights and smokes perfectly fine. Wait till you have to complain about the roller running out of wrapper leaf and leaving loose tobacco at the foot... innocent.gif

Those piramides look great wabashcr. I bet you look forward to resting them and then comparing them one-by-one.

Just got these today! (I have a queue) I had to get 2 samplers to figure out what I loved... Know the Monte 2, Dippy 2 and BBF well. Hoping to make some new friends.

They look brilliant and of course I'm storing them in an old Monte 2 box...
