genevapics Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 I have never had the pleasure of smoking a culebras but I would like to once they come back in stock. That said, what exactly is a culebras cigar? Is it three (3) cigars wrapped around one another? And how does one smoke such a cigar? Do you light them all at the same time, or do you pull them apart and smoke them individually? The culebras has to be the most ugly cigar coming out of Havana. Yet it is this ugliness that makes the cigar absolutely a thing of beauty. One thing is for sure, putting one of these bad boys in your mouth will get you noticed. So, who among us has smoked one of these cuban marvels? I would really like to hear your thoughts on this unique cigar. The culebras cigar... one, two or three cigars in one? El Presidente, when will this unique cigar be available for us "virgins to the vitola"? Thanks.
Phailure Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 Here are a couple old threads on the matter: http://www.friendsofhabanos.com/board_entry.php?id=5493 http://www.friendsofhabanos.com/board_entry.php?id=3315
Loki Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 To the best of my knowledge the Culebra was created to be smoked and taken by workers in the cigar factories so they would not smoke the cigars being rolled for retail distribution, therefore the odd twisted cigars. The culebras would stick out like a sore thumb.
El Presidente Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 You must unravel the Culebra to achieve three cigars which are smoked individually. The commercailly available Partagas Culebra (currently unavailable) has a legion of fans. It is a quality machine made hand finished cigar with a smooth yet distinctive flavour. When will it be available again?......don't hold your breath at least in its current guise. It is a high cost production cigar with a low price point. One wonders whether it makes commercial sense to produce. I can see it returning as a fully hand rolled cigar at a higher price point....significantly higher. I thoroughly enjoy the Partagas Culebra...albeit it makesyou look like you have just swallowed a Pig :-D
sparks Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 One of my favorite MM. Looks like your smoking a tree root.
Bill Hayes Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 I have two left from a bundle of three. If you like partagas cigars you'll enjoy celubras. They're just difficult to take with you anywhere because of their shape you can't just put them in your caddy or a tube.
kab55 Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Was forunate to beable to smoke one a few weeks ago, great smoke. Are we ever going to see them again?
