Tally Ho and Top of the Morning Chaps!

Please excuse my brashness in posting without approaching the appropriate bodies of siege.
One can only assume in the good nature of my rambling such a thread could be allowed in a place of gentlemanly pass time worship.

Some splendid lads came up with a positively splendid idea of holding a motorized cycle rally to raise awareness and support for victims and research of prostate cancer and have dubbed it the Gentleman's Ride.

The idea being if you have a suitable bike and wish to participate you put on a bit of old world charm, Something smart looking and ride on Sunday the 28th to raise awareness and donations.

Which is why I'm posting here. Very late notice as I didn't find out how soon it was or that nobody else in Mildura had grabbed the mantle until a little late, Awful news but not to bother!

Naturally I was chewing at the bit to help my fellow man and my charming and very debonair Grandfather only 3 days before I found out about the ride had just been diagnosed with prostate cancer.. So the time was right.

I'm hosting this years event under the local historic clubs normal monthly ride and next year hope to run an independent ride more suited to the Gentleman's Ride rather than the clubs more straight forward rides.

I'll be wearing my Grandfathers bright orange Arai open face from the 70's and riding my SR250 from the 80's. My Grandad is 88 at the moment. The Bike I'm riding is my first bike and one I lovingly pulled to bits and did a ground up restoration on spanning 18 months. It was a bike my father initially bought for me which I sold and purchased back 3 times. It now has a personalized paint job and our initials on the tank so for me its going to be quite a personal and male family day.

If you wish to contribute you can via; http://www.gentlemansride.com/rider/AndrewNR

All other information on the ride can be found here too!

Granddad, spritely 84 riding my second motorcycle. A brand new Ninja 250 (2008) with his helmet on. Which ill wear Sunday

God this thing feels like its moving fast! I'm very proud and humbled by the support with such late notice.

The local news even just called and quickly came for an interview so I slapped on my monkey suit and jabbed on like a nervous twit. Downside is I'll be at work when the news is on!

Too bad I didn't know about this a month ago. Would've signed up for the Victoria run. Will be there next year for sure. Good luck Andrew. Hope all goes well.

Todays the day! Apparently the news might do another spot on the ride too. Didn't generate any immediate interest or donations but glad to have had the coverage locally anyhow! See you on the other side Gents!

Howdy mate! Sorry! Yeah great we rode for around an hour, I got stung on the ear by a bee due to my open face but meh, What can you do?
I've got some pictures and a video from the news on facebook currently. I've just been a bit slack getting them here. Bare with me for 10 and I'll get some of them here.

We raised roughly 1050 in the end which I was thrilled with. Lots of interest from riders and people involved with stores etc expressing wanting to be involved next year. Even had a member from the Historic club thank me and tell me about his experience beating prostate cancer so it really was a great day/event.

Pictures of the guys who dressed up, We had about 45-50 riders on the day and these of us who dressed up. Allot of the guys said they had wanted too but they weren't certain the event was happening or didn't have enough time to get organised so next year we're going to start planning and letting people know 6 months before hand, finalise route and major sponsors 3 months before and then put out notice 6 weeks (Emails, newsletters flyers etc) We've been offered the local Botanical Gardens as a finishing spot if we wish to utelise it or any of the facilities like the 300people function hall on it etc.. So we may look at a show and shine and maybe some sort of supper/fundraiser auction for next year.. Man stuff.. anyway.. ill think more about that in a few months :-P
