I'm no expert, but I've definitely seen that on NCs. I wouldn't say it's a sure sign of being a fake though. I would think it can happen in Cuba, especially with a highly sought after, and therefore hurriedly produced, cigar. Did you get it as a single? What does the rest of the box look like?

EDIT: I just noticed you are new so i'll give you a proper answer and not a tongue in cheek one.

If you bought it from a reputable supplier, it's normal. Cigars are natural products. You'll find differing colours and spots on wrappers and heaps of things. It's a hand made process not a highly reproducable machine with strict quality control.

Buy from reliable sources, chill out, and enjoy your smokes. It's that simple.

It may be the angle of Te picture but the tapered cap looks far too rounded to be a monte #2. Should be more conical in shape to a pointed cap.

They came out of a box of 10 that was the only 1 that looked like that It was a pretty good source

Whether the cigar is from the Montecristo factory or not, the discoloration of the wrapper is a result of the drying (also referred to as curing) process. If the moisture is reduced too rapidly, the chlorophyll does not breakdown and results in a green tinge or green spots.

I would predict this wrapper leaf was exposed to direct sunlight (like being positioned near a window in the drying barn) during the early stages of drying.

I bought a box of Monte No. 2's a few months ago and one of them had this green tinge on part of the wrapper. I had no reason to question their authenticity, but I had been wondering what was going on. Thanks for the info. My Scooby-Doo mystery has been solved!

I've always heard that those green spots are caused by moisture. Could be from rain or just excess moisture in the process.
