Back again with number four.

Reinado Grand Empire Reserve Petit Lancero

This was the nicest cigar out of the four so far. Thoroughly enjoyable and a good size for me too.

I read some reviews before smoking it and tried again to experience some of the different flavours. People were talking about "honey, maple syrup, coffee, molasses, cocoa etc..".

I honestly tasted none of those. Just a smooth, medium tobacco taste with no harshness and a little pepper on the retrohale. I think what might have happened is that i burnt out my sense of smell and taste through ten years of cigarettes and other things.

This has lead me to create my own flavor wheel.

I am trying to get a more sophisticated palate but at the end of the day, i either like what i'm smoking or i dont. As long as its smooth thick smoke with an agreeable taste, i like it.

None of the other flavours really matter. Even if i should get a hint of honey and i dont, what does it matter? Why not just eat some honey as you smoke if you like honey that much? I really dont understand the "tasting" world. I think what might have happened is that somewhere along the line, wine drinkers started smoking cigars. I wonder if cuban peasants go to these lengths to describe cigars? Just dont get it.

Thought this was going to be a Reynaldo review...anyway

1) This is a nicaraguan cigar. Stop smoking nicotine sticks (nicaraguan/dominicans). One day I will explain

2) This is not a flavor wheel. This is a mouthfeel wheel. It doesn't sound like you retrohale. This is a must for cigar smoking

3) This sounds like you have not yet smoked a cigar that you like

I had the same attitude when I crossed-over like you many years ago. The difference was that I smoked some vintage Cubans when I was very young, and after a while when I was older and rediscovering cigars, I knew that the NCs I was buying were not what I was looking for. I wasn't just chasing flavors, but a feel.

When you smoke that first eye-opening cigar, it will change your life. I can't describe how that epiphany moment will be like for you, because it is different for everyone. For me, it was a '86 Monte #2, and I could remember all my childhood memories rushing back to me, everything around me faded away, and it was just me and the cigar, for about two hours.

And, when that happens, you are completely f*cked.
