JHands Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Looking for info on where to score a couple singles while on the cruise in these ports. I know there is an LCDH in each port, but prices will be higher at either of those. Are there any local shops at either port that sell authentics? I don't feel like bringing my own stash, and I'll probably smoke them while in town with a coffee as the ship has too many smoking rules. If I am going to utilize the LCDH, which port has cheaper prices on singles? Doubt I'll be buying boxes, far too much risk involved in bringing them back vs ordering from here but, should it arise that I want to bring something back stateside, any tips? Edit: Also would like to know a shop that I can enjoy a coffee and small vitola at.
Rushman Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 For coffee and cigar in cayman go to LCDH and ask for Wallace or omaida. Let me know when you will be in port and maybe I can meet you for a smoke. On Cozumel there are many options and loads of fakes so be careful.
Cisco Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 The LCDH in Cayman is located right in the port facility where you disembark from the cruise ship tenders. From what I've read, they have better pricing than the Cozumel LCDH. You can have a cigar and a drink at the LCDH.
Rushman Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Cayman LCDH is across the street and just down a bit from the cruise terminal. No drinks but coffee. Prices are reasonable.

Have read decent reviews about them and I think they are a HSA approved distributor

Rushman Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 How is their selection and prices? How is churchills? Have read decent reviews about them and I think they are a HSA approved distributor Good selection of loose sticks but for those you pay duty prices. Decent selection of boxes duty free. Churchill is small and not as good selection. Prices reasonable considering it's on cayman and mostly for tourists. --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=19.389985,-81.404559

Who has the better prices on singles ? FedEx is best bet and is expensive at $70CI or so for 1 stick or 2 boxes. --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=19.389966,-81.404294

madandana Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Just got back from that same trip on Carnivals ship the Breeze.Smoked a Coro with Rush and had a great visit. LCDH in Caymen was nice and prices seemed about right if not a bit on the reasonable side for a LCDH. Make sure you hook up with Rush and get to know him.You won't find a nicer more generous BOTL. My wife and I have gotten to know him in the last few years and look forward to our meets.Very easy guy to visit with. Didn't get to the shop in Cozumel this time but was there a couple years ago. Selection was not great but the shop is connected to a nice restaurant overlooking the pier for the shuttle to Playa Del Carmen. You can have a smoke after lunch which is a rarety these days. Make sure you know that you have to go downtown for the LCDH in Coz. It's a couple miles north of the cruise ships pier.
JHands Posted January 19, 2014 Author Posted January 19, 2014 Thanks for the info. Rush, if there's anything you want from stateside that you can't get there easily feel free to let me know and I'll try to track it down, else I'll just bring you a few of my favs

JHands Posted January 20, 2014 Author Posted January 20, 2014 2/10 from 8a to 3p. Gotta convince the mrs to break away from our group for a bit to have a stick with you and a coffee
luv2fly Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 I was in Cozumel November 11, 2013. The LCDH was in bad shape. Not sure if it is even still an LCDH. The cigars were in rough shape, the few they had, and some looked fake. There was a water leak in the humidor too. The duty free had some and they had Havana Club as well.
JHands Posted January 21, 2014 Author Posted January 21, 2014 Where is this duty free shop you speak of? I'll be cruising - not flying - in.
luv2fly Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 The Duty Free is at the dock in Cozumel. Not sure if they were authentic, looked like they were. Only had a couple brands in packs if I remember correctly. Bit of a blur now. I was on NCL and Disney was parked there. Not sure where other lines were parking. Hope that helps.
JHands Posted February 13, 2014 Author Posted February 13, 2014 Took rush's advice and stuck to the LCDH in gc. Also picked up a couple singles in churchills to smoke on the boat because I felt guilty nosing through all of their stock looking for authenticity. The monte PE I got from churchills were legit, and perfect. Anyways on to the good stuff. Me and my girlfriend, Lori, arrived to the LCDH in GC around 930. Omaida, the shop manager/owner, texted rush and unfortunately he was unable kt make it so I left him a few gifts at the counter. I selected a trini robusto t for myself and a monte 4 for the lady and we enjoyed a cup of cuban espresso each. Man that stuff was excellent! Stuff I left with - 3 hand rolled robustos by val, 2 RA superiores, 2 infantes, 2 bottles of hc seleccion de maestros. All in all it was an outstanding experience. I would recommend anyone visiting GC to stop in to this shop. Top notch! - James Edit: pay no mind to the Levitra and cialis samples in the background as they are not mine they are for a friend!
