Humidor Builders in Aus

Recommended Posts

With the landing of my 3rd Wine fridge for cigar storeage, and my current back log of stock half filling it, my thoughts have turned to what will happen when this fridge is full.

I currently have 3 large wine fridges that are working well but the day will come when the 3rd fridge is full to bursting point and its led me to wonder what i would do then.

I'm not really keen on the idea of a 4th fridge for various reasons and think a big cabnet humidor might be my next move.

Is there anyone based in Aus who specialises in constructing humidors?

I know our American bretheran have Aristocrats and after looking through the site I was impressed at the scale and quality he can provide and was curious is there is a craftman doing something similar downunder.

Its not something I'll need to worry about for a while (I hope) but it always pays to plan for the future.

Hey Polarbear,

Wine rooms are pretty easy with the addition of a self-contained temperature/humidity unit: http://www.winemate.com , We did a wine room for my parents, I wonder if something similar would work for turning an unneeded closet or other space into a walk-in humidor?

All my mates have been telling me to build a walk in but the issue i have is I dont plan on living in my house for the rest of my life, so I'd like something I can take with me.

Besides, a giant room lined with cedar and humidifers isnt a great selling point i the property game, I'm told

Get a 200+ bottle wine fridge. With Australian house temps (especially up at your end) getting easily up above 35oC in the summer, a normal cabinet humidor just wouldn't stand up to the task. Unless you plan on running the air con in that room all day in the summer, it just wouldn't work. The large wine fridge may be expensive, but it is probably the best alternative for your conditions.
