mjj100025552775 Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Dear All, I am trying to find inexpensive semi-sweet red wines here in the U.S (less then 20 USD a bottle will be ideal). Sweet level may not exceed moscato so any ice wine is out the way. Any suggestion will be appreciated! Howard
Fuzz Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Try this hungarian wine, Bor Forras by Pieroth Wines. Nice sweet, fruity red that needs to be served chilled.

I get a call every few months from Pieroth asking me to buy a case. They even offer to throw in half a case of another wine (Contessa d'Aragona Rosato) if I buy.
Colt45 Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 If you mean a truly "demi-sec" I couldn't really say as it's not a style I typically indulge in. If you are open to things that are not technically sweet, the first thing that comes to mind would be a zin or zin based blend. They tend to be a little softer, a bit more fruit forward, and can give the impression of sweeteness. If you've not tried any, a ripasso style Valpolicella can also give an initial impression of sweetness, though for me, they are earthy at the core, and once accustomed, you might not find them sweet. There is always Port
