Ken Gargett Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 just had a phone call to say that peter lehmann had passed away. he had been crook for a long time. one of he greatest characters, and great winemakers, that the aussie industry has ever known. so very sad. sitting around the table at the lehmanns with peter and margaret, normally in a haze of cigarette smoke, while someone, usually peter, disappeared down to the cellar to find yet another old and amazing bottle was a pleasure and a privelege that a great many of us in the wine, or on the periphery, enjoyed on many occasions. incredibly generous people. he will be hugely missed.
Fuzz AI Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Had the pleasure of meeting him once, several years ago. Very down to earth chap. A great loss to the Australian wine industry. He will be missed. RIP.
sengjc Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 I heard too. A sad day indeed for the wine industry, Australia is poorer with his passing.
str8dog Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Obviously I never knew the man, but I certainly knew his wines! RIP.
bassman Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Never knew the man, but enjoyed many of his wines. RIP.
