habanos1972 Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 Love them, just put aside enough time to enjoy!
Steens Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 mine from 09 have been really improving in flavor this year, in fact had one the other day that would be one of my best ever cigars
Guybrush Posted April 14, 2013 Author Posted April 14, 2013 How are the recent ones in terms of body and flavor?
Guybrush Posted April 21, 2013 Author Posted April 21, 2013 Meanwhile I had the chance to smoke a Saint Luis Rey Double Corona from JUL 12. The first puffs had been as great as expected, then the cigar became mild for some time. In the second half the aroma was fuller again. At the end I noticed a lot of nicotine. At the moment the cigar is not (yet) as exceptional as I remembered but it is of course still young.
Charltonc Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 I think these need at least a couple of years. I have had some good 2011s, but the last two inches was very green.
Guybrush Posted April 22, 2013 Author Posted April 22, 2013 The second quarter was quite mild. I wonder if some age can make a cigar fuller?
Hohenthal Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 The second quarter was quite mild. I wonder if some age can make a cigar fuller? Yes
cigcars Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 When I first began acquiring Habanas I know I ended up with a lot of fakes. Then I bought a box of SLR Churchills and from the wonderful honeyed and maple body and smoothness I knew these were the real thing. Also you have the advantage that a lot of counterfeiters out there don't seem to target Saint Luis Reys for faking. Good show!
thechenman Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 SLRs are great cigars...best when aged. I find that I prefer the Churchill over the DC though. Fantastic smoke.
