Period in Box Code?

Hi everyone....was going through the humi this weekend when I noticed something strange. My box of RA Extra has a period in the box code and I don't think I've ever seen this before. Box was from SW and warranty seal/cigars seem fine, but barcode was removed. Has anyone seen this before? Thanks!

Seems a little bit weird, on that particular box / factory....but then I have seen that years back on other boxes....

I'm wondering if it matters at all....does it maybe depend on source? The only boxes that I have which contain a period in the date code are the boxes that have been received from Switzerland.

My theory:

Swiss cheese has holes in it. So the holes had to have cheese in them before they were cut out. The Swiss take the cheese and remove all moisture, shrinking them into little black dots. These little black dots are pressed into the boxes of Swiss origin so they don't go to waste and so that customs knows which boxes to let through.
