Hi all - I finally fired up on of my ten Monte #2's that I received and tossed in the humi about a month ago. The box code on these is ROL JUL 12. I cut off a good portion the cap with my Xicar xi cutter and the cigar started off fine for the first 3/4 inch, but after that deteriorated into a lung workout ordeal with streaky burn that usually corrected itself but wasn't a whole lot of fun. I gave up with a few inches to go on this high maintenance stogie.

I know my humidity is a little high around 68-69% - the cigar just felt much too moist. Had to puff at it a few times to get some good smoke and it felt like it wanted to go out.

What's the solution to these guys? My other cigars seem to smoke fine. Maybe I should drop the humidity a bit or put the rest back in the box in a tupperdor to relax for a few months. Any thoughts?

Here is a picture of the offending cigar, I didn't snap one while smoking because I was too busy working at it!

Drybox it for a couple days prior to smoking. Problem solved.

Thanks all - sorry if this is a dumb question, but is dry boxing/lower humidity more necessary for fresh cigars than older ones? Reason I ask is my other NC's all seem to smoke fine at 68-69% humidity and even the Siglo IV tubos that I have are fine as well. This is the first full box of cigars that I've purchased so maybe it's more an issue with fresh cigars?

Thanks for the advice. I'm thinking the best way to drop the humidity is to add more cigars asap...........
