ayedfy Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 The last stick from a recent C.U.N.T.A.S. sampler. Discontinued in 2009, so while I don't know the box code, there's some age on it. I've had a very basic introduction to Bolivar with a Royal Corona and a Belicosos Finos, so let's see how this compares. Bolívar Inmensas. Box code unknown. Vitola: 6.7x43. Cold observations: Never seen a box-pressed Cuban before. Fascinating. Wrapper is light in colour, and construction appears even and firm. Cold aroma is a little creamy but really isn't giving anything away. Draw is tighter than I'd prefer, with hints of citrus on the cold draw. First third: Medium-bodied with a salty-sweet profile. Kiwifruit, malty vanilla, peanuts, fresh lumber and honey sit surrounded by a luscious creaminess. Quite unlike the Bolivars I'm familiar with. Softer, more balanced. Second third: Citrus poking out now, particularly a rich, juicy lemon note (although not sour). Leaves a lingering creamy-fruity fullness on the palate - like a warm smoothie. Final third: Toasty; charred oak and roasted capsicum. Most of the citrus has disappeared but the creamy, malty sweetness is still holding this all together. This is delicious. I've never had a cigar in such a thin vitola, but I'm really liking it. Maybe I need to start exploring the skinnies! 92/100 Many thanks to Rob/Smithy/Di & co for putting together this sampler (Inmensas, Cohiba PE & Monte 520). Three cigars I never would have thought to try, and yet all were outstanding.
Colt45 Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 A great cigar, and one of my favorite sizes. Thanks for the review.
