Freefallguy Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Thought I’d give all a glimpse of how we’re preparing food for the kids in Nicaragua. It begins with boxes of rice/soy donated by various organizations from the States: Our volunteer home cooks add oil, chicken, plantain and veggies: It’s all cooked in massive aluminum pots over wood fires: Sometimes there’s a stray critter wandering through the kitchen: After a day of touring I treated Roberto to a meal at my place. Fried red snapper with salsa and a staple of trimmings: As Rob A. will attest, and certainly no offense to the locals, but hands down it’s better than the national dish of vigaron. Boiled yucca, pork rinds and cabbage salad: Cheers, Rob
Stanislaw Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 My my that looks tasty.... Even that national dish looks fantastic unlike the USA national dish, which, I'm fairly certain, is a hamburger..... Amazing work you are doing out there..... Very inspirational
El Presidente Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 As Rob A. will attest, and certainly no offense to the locals, but hands down it’s better than the national dish of vigaron. Boiled yucca, pork rinds and cabbage salad: ...and to think I had almost forgotten about that "delicacy"
