paulF Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Just smoked one of those and was really surprised! earthy woody nutty spicy leathery but all rounded and balanced. Loved it! Didn't get any saltiness at all but more like a barnyard flavour profile with some weird(nice weird) sort of sweetness! Such a smooth smoke.
Troels Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Bought a box last years (mur jul 12 iirc) the constitution on the top layer was unsmokable due to loose construction. The Wind tunnel one would normally see is a tent peg in comparison. But hey - just got the idea to take a look at the second layer and half of those is fine - having one now that is splendid - great flavours ! Had they all been like that (should have bought from here I guess)..
Grahamsant Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Shame that you didn't enjoy it. My first Bolivar was a Coronas Extra, it was my first full flavour cigar and I couldn't get enough of it! It's been one of my favourites but sadly I'm told they are now out of production so I've just bought some Royals. I will let them settle for a while in my humidor first before giving one a go but I'm really hoping they will be a worthwhile buy!
Orion21 Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 I buy the tubo version of this cigar because I find them to be great to excellent every time. The consistency is just better in my experience. The BRC absolutely has a very different flavor profile that you will either love or not. I love the Bolivar profile because it's so different. A very nice in between is the Bolivar Short Bolivar RE 2008. That is a 4.5 X 52 cigar, but packs amazing flavors. They are more expensive than the BRC, but worth the premium. Another good Bolivar robusto is the Candian RE Simones. Worth tracking down.
SethLG Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Man, $19 for a Boli is brutal. It is a shame you did not care for the cigar as well, but to each their own.
Stogieninja Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 I'm a big fan of the Bolivar marca in general. I agree, the Simones is something special!
cigarbreak Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Thanks for the review! I started wtih a few Bolivar PC's and enjoyed it, and then followed up with a few Bolivar CE's and enjoyed them even more. I have a box of Bolivar RC's sitting in my humi (MUR Sep 13) that was muled back for me by a good friend that I can't wait to smoke, and after your review I will definitley keep some aside to age.
