After talking with a great BOTL about the short offerings from RyJ we got onto the subject of the Tres Petit Coronas and how across all marcas they were fantastic cigars, how they were all deleted is a real but not mentioned travesty. Anyway he sent one across along with some amazing other cigars so I decided to light the RyJ one up today.

Straight off this cigar is just a touch above medium body with flavours of milky coffee and wafts of milk chocolate. I'm trying to think of an RyJ which is in regular production today which can actually produce this one famous flavour, maybe a well aged churchill if you manage to get a good one?

The progression of flavours is really excellent, a dry ceder comes in but with no sweetness unlike the ceder found in the short churchill. This is burning beautifully with a dark ask which isn't going anywhere despite the dog's best efforts!

Age has really benefited these, perfectly balanced flavours, all of the previous are now combined with a rich fruity nougat, each taking their turn every other puff to waft in.

Getting to the end now and almost full bodied, not once has there been any harsh elements or bitter hints, perfect balance and rich flavours from the get go. This little cigar shows just exactly what an utter shower RyJ has become, The market value of the name is completely underused and every single vitola should be an advertisement for what Cuba can really produce. On their day RyJ can blow Cohiba and Partagas out of the water, but when was the last time they really had their day? The early 90s? I have a sad feeling that RyJ will be looked at in a decade how we look back at Davidoff and Dunhill now.

Greatly enjoying but sadly almost finished a box of 2006 RyJ TPCs. Wonderful cigars. Am hoping some upcoming RyJ Petite Princesses with be as good. The PP is now also cut, but lasted a few years longer than the TPC.

The '05 TPCs I have are a real powerhouse. Very rich with sweet and earthy flavors and a bit of spice. These are smoking reasonably well now but still have legs to age much longer.

While I have been enjoying the PPs of '10 and '11 they seem to have a milder body with a strong tanginess and notes of sweet spice. The '10s were fab ROTT. They are getting into a sick period which I think they will gracefully mature nicely from but I doubt they will be a real powerhouse like the TPC. That being said they're the only current production RyJs I've had recently that I think are worth stocking up on.
