Lake Louise

On a recent trip through the mountains we stopped in at the Post Hotel in Lake Louise. The hotel is in the townsite, probably about 5km from the lake itself. Had an alright lunch with the exception of the missus' sandwich was placed on a freshly washed plate (we think) resulting in an inedibly soggy sandwhich, to which our server said "Oh, I didn't notice that," an no effort was made to rectify. Other wise a good meal, but somewhat pricey even by standards in the park (as I recall, forget the specific amounts but I remember thinking it was a bit pricey). They did have a tremendous wine list, of note was a bottle of port dating to the 1920's (no, I didn't order a bottle, it was the early afternoon, geez!).

Now the especially neat part was that they had a proper cigar lounge, unlike the rest of the province. The cigar selection wasn't comprehensive, but they had probably about 15 different types, from small vitolas to the large, with a variety of marcas from cheap and cheerful (cheap in canada is relative of course), to cohibas. No LEs or REs. Recommendations were provided based on our meal and drink choices. Cigars appeared to be well kept. The only real complaints were that they only had paper matches to provide (luckily I came prepared).

I highly recommend the cigar lounge, if even just for the rare experience of finding a good cigar lounge outside of quebec. If any BOTL's want to meet up there, its only a few hour drive for me, I'm game.
