Has anyone ever used the Le Veil DCH-56 Humidifier?

Your Thoughts?

I've used the Le veil dc 12 unit and works alright. I found that it was not well built like cigar oasis or the lg hydra. The one I had lasted 18 months until the fan crapped out.

I found with the Le veil you get what you pay for

Yeah, my thoughts, too, I've got a buddy that has one and is making me a great offer on it, but I didn't know anything about them.

Nope!

The real question of performance for these is based on their ability to control what they are supposed to control.

Here is an example.

Based on set points what range can be expected from the start of activation to the end of activation? While this does not seem important, it may be depending on what your expectation is for range of control.

This plays an especially important role when one uses active refrigeration control. The point is, in the real world, once you have begun to data log your humidor, you may find that overlaps in controls tend to put you project into some form of over saturation, or resonance. Meaning, that the set point differentials that are preprogrammed for you may result into making your humidor too wet, or too dry, or too cool.... etc.

After years of monkeying around with humidor science I have found that nothing will predict exactly how a humidor is going to work. I find that accuracy is not really that important, yet precision and repeatability is very important. Consistency is the key that with precision and adequate resolution. Control sensitivity, too much or too little can be a problem! The more ability that you have to integrate controls and adjust them to your appliances, the better your humidor will work. Controlling saturation due to carryover via set point deviation activation and deactivation is the best way to do this.

I have found that static deviation activation in semi-programable parametric controllers causes a lot of problems. Independent controls, working at different sensitivity levels also leads to problems. I like a unified control platform.

Compared to a cigar oasis? If you want to talk build quality the cigar oasis is one of the most poorly built active humidifiers on the market. Its basically a very inaccurate hygrometer connected to a cheap cpu fan attached to a defunct foam humidifier, the hydra is the exact same with extra fan inputs and a supposedly calibratable hygrometer.

I cant comment on the la veils reliability, but im quite confident its the exact same thing.

Skip all the above units and go with beads, add a cpu fan for air circulation and you will be good to go.

I have beads already, but I need active humidification for a temp controlled 21 cubic foot space I'm building.

Ahhhh my apologies bro.

Bob Staebell has some good options for a humi that size. I understand he is close to you?

Yeah, he's literally right down the road. The humidor is built, just need active humidification. I highly prefer controlled and modified compressor temp control over thermoelectric, and Bob, being in Texas should realize the need to offer both, but he's not hurting for business, so I doubt he cares.

You know that he sells the humidifiers separately a well right?

My intention here was that you get the answers on the specific product that you asked about Dave but it does not really look like that is what is going to happen so I thought that I would chime in with the solution that I believe in.

This is a picture for a tutorial that I am writing about humidifying desiccant beads. That is not really important. What is important is that what you see in the picture is, or can be made to suit your needs.

This is a unified parametric controller programmed by me to control cigar microclimates. The manufacturer has been working for me to adapt these process controllers to address our problems. I am currently on the cusp of a new revision that should be what I consider a first class working model that will satisfy the most discriminating humidor maker. ME!

Ignore the cream colored box that the gray controller enclosure is mounted into. That is a bead humidification chamber for my bead products. The other appliances are a powered bead silo (made by me) and a humidifier (made by me). These are fully programable, on demand, active devices run by the controller. Additionally this controller will run other appliances such as your refrigerator and even a heater for those of you in cooler climates. One controller can perform the following functions. Humidify, cool, de-humidify and heat. This does not make them perfect... but it does make them the best solution currently available for the money.

Frankly, this is the solution for your problem. I expect that we will have them ready to sell very soon. All of the products are sturdy and easy to use. The controller comes initially programmed by me and with a little practice one can be making deliberate custom program changes in as little as a few minutes. These are robust industrial controls, not cheesy terrarium monitors or weather indicators.
