kodebusan Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 My 2 cents, vintage come from the french vendange which mean grape harvest.
BENN Posted November 6, 2012 Author Posted November 6, 2012 Interesting points you all have! That is why I started this thread and would love to hear some thoughts from Nino, pres or Ken about this.
mk05 Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 Wasn't that around the time the "Corojo" leaf stopped being used due to disease? I believe so. My sly comment was moreso to point out the fact that '96 was when blends started being changed annually for the purposes of maintaining the taste the same due to the introduction of new tobaccos. There are two schools of thought still on the '98-'01 cigars. Some believe that the problems were caused by disease. Others believe that it is due to rushed demand and production. The last known disease problems were mid 50's and '80? Blue mold and pata prieta. Completely stopped production, factories closed, basically great depression. That didn't happen during the cigar boom. More cigars came around. So you know where I stand...
CigarmanTim Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 Interestingly enough, the go-to guy for this topic is here right now. Dball... lol yes, he would be the one to ask.
