Overproof Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 I currently have 5, 69% packs in my 150 count humidor and for the most part It appears to be keeping things steady at around 63-65% with my inside temps being low 20c I've only had these packs for maybe 3 weeks but I noticed they say that they have a life of around 2 months? Would beads be a better option longterm or can these packs be re charged?
Ophidion Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Beads all the way. Bovida are great for traveling but that's about it.
Hoshneer Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 I have 65% beads and I would never do it any other way now. I do love Boveda packs though. They have their purpose for traveling and shipping. Sent from my SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2

Overproof Posted September 25, 2012 Author Posted September 25, 2012 Cheers mate. I found some heartfelt beads.
nikesupremedunk Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Whenever they start to get hard and not as liquidy. As everyone above says, beads really take the headache out of keeping a stable RH.
hdryder Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 I used to use packs and they are good but beads seem to work much better and very easy to recharge. And yes the packs can be recharged. Simply put them in a air tight container with a bowl of distilled water. I place a piece of wick out of a home humidifier in the bowl to draw the moister up so it can evaporate better Cheers Richard
GernBlansten Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Cheers mate. I found some heartfelt beads. Good call. Also, I found the Boveda packs lasted ~9mo in a large airtight tupperware container.
SuprHasan Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 I've had 2x 69% in an 8L Lock&Lock since mid March and they're still very squishy, considering it also travelled with me from Sydney to Karachi for a 3 week holiday and subjected to very low ambient humidity and opened several times a day. Did you know you can recharge Boveda packs? Rehydrating Bovedas

I didn't until yourself and someone else commented above, so thanks. Everyone has been very helpful which is really appreciated. My beads should arrive in a few weeks but I have a feeling I'll be needing more storage probably sooner than later. I started out with a tupperware container so I guess the packs will come in hand for when I need the extra storage...Great to know I can re charge them now.
