Rob and I were sent a quick email yesterday from one of our forum members Georg who said he would be on the ground in Brisbane for 10 hours and wanted to know if he could bring us a cigar and relax on the deck. Any time a member says they are bringing us a regional cigar we are more than happy to sit around with that client. Georg runs tour groups through the island of the south pacific, (yes I know you thought we had a tough life) and was passing through on his way to another tropical destination.

He brought with him three ERDM Elegantes a regional release cigar from Switzerland (where Sven comes from) for 2010. Here is some technical information about the cigar on www.cubancigarwebsite.com

I love the robusto extra size, just makes me feel like it is a decent sized cigar and I am going to get a great volume of smoke. Gorgeous wrapper and construction of the cigar with a dry draw of toasted tobacco and a hint of cedar.

The cigar started beautifully just a touch below medium which is about where is stayed for the length of the cigar. Opening up with touches of coffee and that cedar showing through. The flavours were not overpowering which made you really think about what you were tasting. A very velvety feel in the mouth or as Rob would say lushes mouth feel.

The burn throughout the cigar was superb and into the second third I lost that coffee flavour and developed a soft cloves flavour that maintained to the end.

Now Georg didn't just turn up with some fine cigars he also brought with him from Fiji, their finest rum. That's right Bounty Dark Rum at 58% it had a strong hint of petrol and it best consumed with a mixer.

Final third Gerog pulled out a flavour that is to common, hints of green basil which was an impressive flavour to find. I can see where he was coming from with a touch of greeness in the back end.
