Perseids Meteor Shower

The Perseids Meteor Shower is due to start around now. It is supposed to average around one a minute.

I just spent an hour outside looking up at the heavens.

I was enjoying a Punch Royal Selection while waiting for the show.

I was getting a fair way into the smoke when it started to develop a strange burnt paper taste.

I look at it and discover i had smoked half way through the band... Whoops..

Clearly was distracted by looking up the whole time.

In that hour i didnt see one meteor at all....

I saw just one on Friday night and my wife saw one on Saturday night. It was great star-gazing conditions here in Nebraska for the two nights even though we didn't see a lot of meteors.

Waited for The Who to close the games,

then went outside and smoked a Montecristo Nr 5 for 45 minutes watching the sky - counted 21 meteors some of which left a beautiful trail.

Going to sleep now - nice show.

After being up for 42 hours traveling back from the Middle East, I dozed off in the backyard. I woke up after I'd dropped my Duke into my lap. I was wearing shorts...

I threw a chaise cushion into the bed of the pick-up Thursday night and settled in with a Regios. Saw six meteors and with some age on the cigar it was a fine smoke.

Related the same in an email to our esteemed Presidente and the reply I got: “Without being uncouth….you really need to find a good woman…” there was more to that statement but for the sake of decorum I will not repeat it here.

You can see the hint of one just to the right of the peak of the roof…
