I hate it when that happens.....

So after a year of hanging around this forum, I see that quite a few of you like to enjoy your smoke out on the deck, by the fire, or what have you. Whether solo or in a group, just relaxing with a drink and a cigar.

Up until the last year, almost all of my smoking was in my friendly neighborhood lounge, where I got to relax and smoke int he company of friends.

The last year, virtually 100% of my smoking has been while tending the shop. Its still nice, usually no rum or scotch to drink, and I am up and down and in and out of the shop as traffic dictates.

Anyway....

I was about mid way through what was a very good HdM Epi 2. I had to walk half a block up fifth avenue here in PDC to get something from the convenience store for my wife. I left my cigar in the ashtray inside the shop. When I came back, apparently a customer (or my wife) had used the ashtray to cut a cigar, and knocked my cigar into the ashtray. Not a huge deal, but the ashtray was pretty full of ashes, and I tend to chew (for lack of a better word) my cigar so the area around the cap gets quite wet, and therefore does a darn good job of picking up ashes.

If it was just a few ashes, no prob, blow them off and keep smoking - but this looked like it was dipped in the ashes the same way you dip an ice cream cone in chocolate sprinkles.

I let it sit there like a dead soldier and promptly grabbed another and started again.

That sucks to hear. When I first started smoking, I had to stop half way and I didn't want to toss it so I put it in the zip lock bag that the b&m's put your cigars in. Later, I realized that even though I blew the ashes off before I put it in, they somehow all came out and got all over the cigar. Still wiped it off and ended up smoking it though :hole:

That really blows man, especially on a nice cigar like an epi No.2. I really hate it when that happens as well but have never had it happen to me that bad. Usually I'm able to simply wipe it off and keep going.

I dont know whats worse. Ash, which is very clean, on your wet cigar.....or smoking a half smoked cigar that was in a ziplock bag...

Shlomo, clearly smoking a day old half smoked cigar that had been in a bag all night is worse, IMVHO, I'd smoke my cigar ash side in before doing the former.

I guess you are correct in that ash is clean, albeit devoid of good taste.

Back when I was a big drinker, more than once I got too drunk and put the ash side in............that will sober you up quick!

Yeah, I think she picked up the ashtray and the cigar rolled around in the ashes......

This is why I never trust ashtrays. When I smoke at home and I need to set my cigar down I use my Palio cutter or the remote to the ceiling fan.

I have a golf cart style cigar minder that I usually forget to attach to my chair on the porch of my store.,.,,if the cigar was anchored there, all would be right in the world.

I find there is a direct correlation between dropping my cigar (in the ashtray, floor or pants) and the lateness of the day......party.gif

The same correlation can be made to the number of empty Shiraz bottles...
